Burkhard Langemann
Burkhard is exploring the world of Yoga and Spirituality with his Partner Kirsten Reiss since more than a decade. After travelling extensively on various continents, and co-founding a development aid organization in Peru, he studied Critical Psychology & Alternative Education at the Free University of Berlin. Burkhard dedicates himself to the unification of Eastern & Western Philosophies, and the integration of Spirituality & Science is a focus of his personal practice & academic research. His thorough exploration of Ken Wilber´s Integral Theory culminated in a Master´s Thesis on Holistic Development. In 2001 he began to study Sivananda Yoga in India. The comprehensive teachings of Swami Vivekananda Saraswati led him to a dedicated education in Hatha & Kundalini Yoga, Meditation & Yogic Philosophy. He consequently became an enthusiastic part of the Agama Yoga Teaching Team in 2008 (IYF-500 & RYS certified). He studied Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore (India), and received teachings from B.N.S. Iyengar (a direct disciple of Krishnamacharya). Burkhard began to meditate in the Vipassana style of Theravada Buddhism, and practiced under Ajaan Tong Sirimangalo in Northern Thailand. Soon after, he met his main Meditation teacher Sahajananda, who introduced him in more than a dozen Retreats to the depths of Advaita Vedanta & Kashmir Shaivism. Burkhard completed the corresponding Hridaya Teacher Training Course, in which he also acted as an assistant to Sahajananda. On a search in sacred India he recently travelled to Tiruvannamalai to meditate in the divine presence of Ramana Maharshi. He is drawn to the simplicity of profound non-dual teachings which embrace & transcend the manifest world, and he aims to integrate the formal Meditation practice with a moment to moment awareness in daily life. Burkhard is currently leading Spiritual Heart Meditation Retreats on Koh Phangan (Thailand), and is working as an Integral Life Coach & Psychotherapist. |
